This is a few days old, but I find it rather amusing.
Last Friday morning, former Hewlett Packard CEO and McCain campaign surrogate Carly Fiorina called in to WLS Radio's Don Wade & Roma In The Morning to discuss the presidential race. During the conversation, Fiorina said, "I'm proud that a woman and an African-American can run for the President of the United States. And I'm proud that this political season we had as diverse a slate of candidates as we've ever had in this country."
Listen:
Obviously, what's funny about this is that Fiorina's party offered a slate of candidates that didn't include a single woman or person of color. So she is essentially saying she's proud of the Democrats.
Here's the transcript of the exchange:
ROMA: Have you been fascinated watching the Democrats decide the victor? And apparently it finally has happened, although I'm not certain that Hillary is completely aware of that yet. But during the process, I wondered whether you thought she was a victim of sexism. We've heard of racism, sexism, and agism during this campaign, haven't we?
FIORINA: Yes, we have and all three things exist. You know, I think there's -- first of all, I'm proud that a woman and an African-American can run for the President of the United States. And I'm proud that this political season we had as diverse a slate of candidates as we've ever had in this country. I think that's a wonderful message for all Americans. I think it's also true that women in positions of power -- particularly a bold, uncompromising woman, which is what Hillary Clinton is -- women in those positions are treated differently, they're talked about differently, they're scrutinized differently. That's just reality.
