Watching MSNBC this morning, I happened to notice that they repeatedly referred to Bill Ayers as "Willie" in their on-screen text:
Willie, huh? I grew up in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. I know the Ayers-Dorhn family quite well. And I can't remember anyone referring to Bill Ayers as "Willie."
It's almost like they went out of their way to use this nickname. After all, "Bill" takes up less space on the screen.
Meanwhile, Media Matters' Jamison Foser makes a valid observation. He writes: "Strange enough that we can't help recall another 'William' who became 'Willie' during an election year: William J. Horton."
