Day four of the Illinois House's impeachment inquiry commenced at noon today. Here are the items on this afternoon's agenda:
- Testimony from John Scully, former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois
- Testimony from the Procurement Policy Board
- Testimony from an Illinois Campaign for Political Reform representative [UPDATE: It's executive director Cindi Canary]
- Responses from the Dept. of Health and Family Services to follow-up questions from the committee
Last week, the committee sent a five-page letter to U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald requesting access to certain materials and witnesses and asking whether their probe will interfere with his investigation of Gov. Blagojevich. At the outset of today's hearing, Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie said that they've received no response from Fitzgerald's office, but are "hopeful we might hear from him today."
Blagojevich attorney Ed Genson also expressed his desire to present his list of witnesses and to give a statement to the committee this week. Currie suggested that they would try to find time for his presentation later today.
