In recent weeks, we've been tracking the Republican congressional delegation's opposition to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which strengthens our employment discrimination laws. After passing the House (without the votes of GOP Reps. Mark
Kirk, Don Manzullo, Peter Roskam, John Shimkus, Aaron Schock, and Judy Biggert), the U.S. Senate approved the bill by a vote of 61-36 today.
And if there's any doubt about whether President Obama will sign it (and there isn't), here's an indication of how he feels about the matter: Lilly Ledbetter herself was an invited guest on his train tour last weekend. And let's not forget that she appeared in an Obama campaign commercial slamming John McCain for his previous opposition to the bill.
Now it's time to get the Paycheck Fairness Act through as well.
