Gubernatorial Ad Truce Rejected
Gov. Pat Quinn's reelection committee has asked State Comptroller Dan Hynes to call a truce on the negative TV ads being run by both campaigns. Hynes' camp has rejected the request, calling it "a stunt."

Filing Deadline Closes, Stroger Gets Last Spot On Ballot
The deadline for filing nominating petitions to appear on the 2010 ballot passed last night and among the candidates to clear the deadline at the 11th hour was Cook County Board President Todd Stroger. In doing so, he secured the last spot on the ballot.

Trotter: "Drastic Cuts" On The Horizon
Illinois' overall economy may be improving, but the state's budget crisis is far from over, according to Senate budgeteer Sen. Donnie Trotter (D-Chicago). He projects that "drastic cuts" in state services are just around the corner.

IG Rips VA Hospital Performance
Illinois' Veterans Affairs Inspector General reports ongoing problems with the VA medical center in Marion, including the failure to assess patient deaths adequately and performing operations without following proper procedure.

Drug Expansion Approved
Roughly 20,000 low-income Illinoisans will have access to prescription drugs now that lawmakers overrode an amendatory veto Friday, which would have delayed the expansion of the Illinois Cares Rx program until 2012.

Abortion Notification Enforcement Delayed
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has issued an extension allowing the Medical Disciplinary Board to avoid enforcing a law temporarily that requires parental consent for an abortion.
