Have a look at Sara Feigenholtz's first television ad in her race for the 5th Congressional District seat:
David Ormsby has been reporting on the money side of things and reports that Feigenholtz yesterday told supporters via email that she has raised $550,000 since her first contribution in November. Meanwhile, John Fritchey disclosed that he has raked in $400,000-$450,000 since he began raising on January 1. Look for him to go up on the air as well in the coming days.
In that vein, State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias is holding a fundraiser for Fritchey in downtown Chicago this evening.
Mike Quigley sent out an email to supporters yeserdays touting over 40,000 voter contacts:
I have some great news for you. WE ARE WINNING THE GROUND GAME.
In just 25 days, we've contacted 41,307 voters.
We did it faster, smarter and cheaper than any of our opponents and we could not have done it without the tremendous outpouring of support you have shown us. Mike has said to us on numerous occasions that he is blessed to have so many great friends and supporters.
UPDATE: Both the Greater Chicago Caucus and Progressive Democrats of America have endorsed Tom Geoghegan in the race. From the press release:
"During these tough economic times, we need someone with Geoghegan's proven track record of fighting for working people," said Connie Baker, Executive Director, GCC. "We are proud to endorse the other skinny, Harvard graduate who has dedicated the past 30 years of his life to fighting for justice, pensions, healthcare and better wages."
The GCC has hundreds of volunteers including two volunteer campaign staffers ready to actively engage on the Geoghegan campaign.
The main reason cited for the Progressive Democrats of America's endorsement was Geoghegan's vision for the reform of the U.S. economy.
"This is a winnable race that will reset the direction of Obama's change agenda," said Lorin Klugman, co-state coordinator, Progressive Democrats of America.
Full disclosure: The SEIU Illinois Council -- which is the sole sponsor of Progress Illinois -- has endorsed Sara Feigenholtz in the 5th Congressional District race. Progress Illinois itself will not be endorsing any candidate in this contest.
