Real progressive representation at the state and local level in Illinois won't come solely from advocacy groups pushing our current crop of elected officials to take better positions. It will truly arise when individuals who already embrace progressive values get elected. But the path from "civic-minded citizen" to "candidate" takes a lot of work and a lot of training.
If you've ever considering running for office, there's an informational session in Mundelein in late April intended to help you learn more about what it takes.
The event will feature a panel discussion on campaign field work, fundraising, and building a winning campaign team. Guest speakers will be State Rep. Rosemary Mulligan, State Sen. Michael Bond, IL Senate Victory Fund field director Scott Cisek, and former Leage of Conservation Voters executive director Joe Woodward.
