Some fascinating spin from Sen Roland Burris' spokesperson Delmarie Cobb, via the Tribune:
Delmarie Cobb, Burris’ media adviser and strategist, said one major factor in making a decision on election was the status of “the rehabilitation of his reputation.” She said Burris had been pulled out of the media spotlight because “he was trying to be too truthful” about his Senate appointment and just kept “digging a hole” in his explanation.
If your client's problem is that he is "too truthful," something is clearly wrong. Let's not forget that, in Burris' case, his "truthful[ness]" became an issue because it contradicted affidavits and public statements he had made prior to being sworn in to the U.S. Senate.
