Yesterday, we noted the questions raised by Cook County Board President Todd Stroger's account of how he ended up firing administrative staffer Tony Cole, who turned out to have a disturbing history of sexual assault charges.  On Monday night, Stroger told Carol Marin that he terminated Cole once he received the results of a background check on the former busboy hired by the president himself last October.  Stroger said that background checks normally take 2-3 months to be completed (notwithstanding the fact that Cole had been hired six months earlier).
