At today's congressional committee hearing on the climate bill, GOP Rep. John Shimkus didn't read from his bible or claim that curbing carbon emissions would "take away plant food." But as the Washington Independent reports, he did describe his fear of the proposed cap-and-trade program in rather hyperbolic terms:
SHIMKUS: This is the largest assault on democracy and freedom in this country that I’ve ever experienced. I’ve lived through some tough times in Congress. We’ve seen two wars, terrorist attacks. I fear this more than all of the above.
Okay then. According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, he also brought out his lucky lump of coal (which we've seen before).

Yes. You are half right. No one is lucky to be exposed to it.
