By a 12-3 vote today, the Cook County Board of Commissioners voted to repeal the one percent sales tax hike passed last March. Commissioners William Beavers, Robert Steele, and Jerry Butler were the three members who opposes the repeal. Two commissioners did not vote. Both Larry Suffredin and John Daley -- supporters of the original tax hike -- voted in favor of overturning it.
Stroger, however, vowed today to veto the repeal. According to the county code, overriding a veto requires support from four-fifths of the board -- or 14 of the 17 commissioners. This appears to mean Stroger would need four commissioners on his side for the veto to survive an override vote. Meanwhile, Crain's reports that the two absent commissioners are Stroger "supporters."
However, Stroger was also heard challenging commissioners to identify the cuts they will use to offset the loss in revenue. So it's not entirely clear what he's thinking.

When is it ever?
