This afternoon, a who's who of Chicago progressives stood shoulder to shoulder with Ald. Toni Preckwinkle (4th Ward) to lend their support for her bid to unseat Todd Stroger as Cook County Board President. Among those present at the downtown Hotel Allegro was Illinois' own Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who dubbed Preckwinkle "the only progressive in the race," endorsing her as "the only true reformer, the only person who can end the status quo and bring real and responsible change to Cook County."  Click through to watch Schakowsky and former Comptroller Dawn Clark Netsch's endorsements:

Here's more from Schakowsky on the endorsement, via a statement:

As alderman for almost 20 years, [Toni Preckwinkle] has successfully represented a diverse constituency with independence, transparency and accountability. Toni is the only progressive in this race, the only reformer. She is the only person who can end the status quo and bring real, responsible change to Cook County. I have worked with Toni throughout the years and, as my colleague Congressman Gutierrez has said, she is the person we need at the helm of the County Board.
