Dold Using Planned Parenthood Bill To Downplay Voting Record, Say Dems

U.S. Rep. Robert Dold (R-10) went against party lines Wednesday and introduced a bill that would prohibit lawmakers from barring Planned Parenthood -- and other clinics that perform abortions -- from receiving federal Title X dollars that go toward family planning and contraceptive services.

The first-term Republican’s bill, H.R. 5650, or the Protecting Women’s Access to Health Care Act, gained approval from Planned Parenthood, but some of Dold’s critics, including his Democrat opponent in November’s general election, Brad Schneider, aren’t convinced he’s a true advocate for women’s reproductive freedom.

Democratic Candidates Say Ryan Budget Will 'Gut Medicare' (VIDEO)

Just two days after winning Tuesday’s primary election three Democratic candidates voiced their opposition to Congressman Paul Ryan’s GOP budget plan, which passed the Republican-lead House Budget Committee Wednesday night.

Challenging candidates Tammy Duckworth, Brad Schneider, and Bill Foster held a press conference in Chicago’s River North neighborhood to urge their Republican opponents to fight Ryan’s budget.

Schneider Mailer Featuring Obama Pic Making Waves In 10th District Race

A campaign mailer by Democrat Brad Schneider is causing some of his fellow candidates in the 10th congressional district to call foul.

In the mailer, Schneider lists his endorsements, highlighting former congresswoman Melissa Bean and the Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald as supporters. Right next to those endorsements is a picture of a smiling President Barack Obama, who has not endorsed Schneider or anyone else in the 10th congressional district race.

Dems Eye 5 Illinois Districts In Plan To Regain The House (VIDEO)

Democrats have their eyes on five Illinois congressional districts as part of their ultimate plan to regain control of the House of Representatives during the November elections. This afternoon, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced the first-round of candidates in its Red-To-Blue program, which "highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, grassroots, and strategic support," according to the web site.

Five of the 18 seats on the Red-To-Blue district list were in Illinois, including that of Tea Party sweetheart U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-8).

Dold To Hold Last Minute Town Hall

Constituents in the 10th congressional district are calling out U.S. Rep. Bob Dold (R) for holding a town hall meeting with little notice. The town hall meeting will take place tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. at the Wheeling Park District Rec Center, located at at 333 W. Dundee.

According to the Wheeling Township Democratic Organization (WTDO), the town hall meeting will cover the issues of jobs, taxes, and the economy.
