Legislators and gun control advocates united Sunday afternoon to discuss and rally around state and federal gun control legislation being considered in the Illinois General Assembly and U.S. Congress. Progress Illinois was there for the unifying, and at points emotional, event.

Community Group Brings Together Politicians, Religious and Community Leaders In A Call For Social Justice

Busloads of Chicago and suburban residents filed into the pews of a South Side church Sunday for an afternoon remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. and called on a dozen elected officials to join their push for social and economic justice in the area.

Legislators, Healthcare Advocates Celebrate Medicaid Anniversary, Rail Against State Cuts (VIDEO)

The backlash continues against Gov. Pat Quinn’s recent $1.6 billion cut to Medicaid.

On Monday, which marked the 47th anniversary of the state- and federally-funded medical services program, about 100 healthcare advocates joined in a rally that included U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston), State Rep. Esther Golar (D-Chicago), and State Sen. Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago).
