Lawyers representing former Gov. George Ryan yesterday asked for a hearing to request that Ryan be released from prison to be with his ailing wife. The request followed reports that Laura Lynn Ryan is dying from cancer and has only months to live. Ryan's attorneys asked that a hearing be held on December 22.
