Occupy Chicago Disrupts Gov. Walker's Speech (VIDEO)

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) was in Chicago yesterday to give a speech at the Union League Club on his economic policies, but protesters had something else in mind for the collective bargaining busting governor.

Just as Walker approached the microphone to give his speech, protesters from Stand Up Chicago, Occupy Chicago, and labor unions disguised as guests at the breakfast event began using the human microphone system to read a message to Walker, following it up with chants of "Union busting is disgusting!"

Democrats Declare Victory in Wisconsin Recalls

The following is a statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the Democratic victories in the historic Wisconsin State Senate recall elections.

“The victories (Tuesday) of Senators Wirch and Holperin cap off successful recall elections this summer for Democrats, progressives, moderates and independents. Democrats won more races, recalled two Republican senators, protected every Democratic incumbent, shifted the balance of power in the state Senate away from conservatives, and forced Walker and the GOP to pay public lip service to moderation and bipartisanship for the first time since they took power in January. All of these facts show that voters gave Democrats the overall victory in this summer’s historic senate recall elections.”

Tuesday's Wisconsin Recall Election To Provide Insight Into 2012

Wisconsin voters in two Senate districts will head to the polls tomorrow to vote in recall efforts against two Democratic legislators who left the state seeking refuge in Illinois as a means to delay a vote on Gov. Scott Walker's anti-union bill, which strips public workers of most of their collective bargaining rights.

Last week, Democrats won in two of the six recall elections on Republican state senators, which was one shy of the three victories needed for Dems to take control of the Wisconsin Senate. Because of this, tomorrow's recall election will make less of a difference in the control of the Wisconsin state Senate and will instead act as more of an indicator of what the 2012 election cycle could look like as well as how a formal effort to recall Gov. Walker would be received by Wisconsin residents.

Op-Ed: On GOP Turf, Democrats Poised To Win In Wisconsin Recall

The following is an op-ed from Mike Tate, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, on tomorrow's recall elections in Wisconsin.

Tomorrow, playing on Republican turf, the movement against Scott Walker's extreme agenda will make history in unprecedented recall elections that have never been seen in this nation’s history.

In size and scope and consequence, the recall movement will represent a historic correction to Republican overreach, and makes Wisconsin "Where 2012 is Now."

The movement began earlier this year when 180,000 citizens-Republicans, independents and Democrats-braved harsh winter weather in primarily strong GOP districts to recall six Republican senators who slavishly followed Scott Walker. These Republican senators stopped listening to the people as they pursued a radical plan that was revealed only AFTER last November’s election.

The original spark for the movement was Walker’s move to without warning and without need take away the rights of working men and women. Wisconsin came to understand just what Scott Walker meant when he dropped what he called “the bomb” on the head of the state’s middle class.
