With Rod Blagojevich's $1.4 million campaign warchest shrinking rapidly
and his corruption trial expected to last three to five months, the
public will likely have to fork over some taxpayer dollars to fund
their former governor's defense. Former Gov. Jim Thompson, who led the
law firm that defended George Ryan pro bono, once estimated that their
defense work amounted to $20 million.
