Occupy Chicago Prepares For Phase Two Of Protest (VIDEO)

Nearing the end of their second week of action, Occupy Chicago continues to grow despite its lack of defined leadership or, as some have argued, concise messaging. Proudly proclaiming “we are the 99%”, the leaderless movement might just be growing due to the shared frustration with policies seemingly written to benefit the wealthiest Americans.

Occupy Chicago Protest Grows Despite Attempts To Stop It (VIDEO)

Chicagoans have been showing their support for the headline-making Occupy Wall Street protests in New York with their own shows of action outside of the Federal Reserve as well as Willis Tower and Millennium Park. 

The protests in Chicago have remained peaceful thus far, with the participants vowing to keep the events non-violent, even though they have encountered some pushback along the way.

Big Banks, Wall Street Win Big This Week

It’s been a great week for big banks and corporate giants -- and a bad week for consumers and ordinary citizens everywhere.

The U.S. House passed a bill that cuts into the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and here in Illinois, Attorney General Lisa Madigan was named one of the main negotiators working with big banks for immunity in civil courts over foreclosure law suits. Read more »

How Big Banks Displace Families Who Rent

Banks taking over foreclosed properties are considered the new homeowners, but what happens when the building is home to dozens of families who rent? A local neighborhood group says that should make the banks the landlords too -- at least temporarily.
