Duckworth, Walsh Debate Schedule Becomes Debatable

The schedule for the 8th District Congressional debates between U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-McHenry) and Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth is set — but not without some carping from Walsh’s campaign.

Walsh and Duckworth, who is best known for her time serving in Iraq and as an assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, will square off September 14 on Fox News Chicago, October 9 at the Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows, and October 18 on the WTTW's Chicago Tonight. The October 9 debate is open to 8th District residents and will be broadcast on WCPT AM & FM.

Schneider Endorsed For His Support Of The LGBT Community

The Human Rights Campaign publicly endorsed 10th congressional district Democratic candidate Brad Schneider Wednesday morning.

Members of the civil rights organization, which has more than a million supporters nationwide, said Schneider’s opponent U.S. Rep. Bob Dold (R-10) is on the “wrong side of history” when it comes to equality issues and has failed the LGBT community.

Emanuel LGBT Health Plan Wide In Scope

Declaring that, “Chicago’s strength is in the diversity of its communities,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel outlined 22 community strategies this weekend to better address Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, or LGBT, health issues, many which go beyond traditional LGBT health care concerns.
