On the heels of the new Tribune poll showing her with a significant lead in the Democratic primary for Cook County board president, Toni Preckwinkle received the endorsement of the SEIU Illinois State Council (which sponsors this website).
"Toni Preckwinkle has been an independent progressive Democrat and has stood up for working families during her entire career on the City Council," executive director Jerry Morrison told us moments ago. He added that the union believes she is the "best option" for board president. (UPDATE: WBEZ has more.)
With A-1 disclosures being filed with the state board of elections almost daily, it shouldn't be long before we see an SEIU contribution pop up.
In other news, Dorothy Brown tried to put the "jeans day" controversy to sleep at a press conference this morning, but seems to only have made matters worse.
