The latest batch of Tribune/WGN polling is out. With the primary election day less than two weeks away, the Trib is calling the contest between Democratic gubernatorial race between incumbent Pat Quinn and Comptroller Dan Hynes "a toss up."
First, let's have a look at the numbers, which are based on a mid-January survey of 601 likely Democratic voters:
- Quinn: 44% (49%)
- Hynes 40% (23%)
- Undecided 13% (28%)
The poll was taken before Hynes' controversial Harold Washington ad hit the airwaves, so it's safe to say the erosion in Quinn's favorability numbers can largely be attributed to the bad press surrounding his secret early prisoner release program.
