State Legislators Call For National Clean Energy Legislation

How far will the White House and congressional leaders go to ensure that a clean energy bill sails through Congress this year? As the fate of climate change legislation takes shape on Capitol Hill, nearly three dozen Illinois lawmakers have joined with the Progressive States Network and 1,165 other state legislators from the across the nation to urge President Obama and Congressional leaders to usher through a comprehensive bill this year. "Only Congress can provide a predictable, national framework that will spur innovation and discovery in the clean energy sector," they wrote in a letter (PDF) delivered to Capitol Hill today.

Here's a list of Illinois lawmakers who have signed on:

Reps. Julie Hamos, Barbara Flynn Currie, Greg Harris, Sara Feigenholtz, Art Turner, Karen Yarborough, Dave Winters, Deborah Graham, Mike Fortner, Deb  Mell, Elaine Nekritz, Harry Osterman, Maria A Berrios, Jack Franks, Andre Thapedi, Paul Froehlich, Lisa Hernandez, Jay Hoffman, Sandy Pihos, Al Riley, Marlow Colvin, Will Davis, Thomas Holbrook, and Karen May.

Sens. John Cullerton, Don Harmon, Mattie Hunter, Susana Mendoza, Pam Althoff, Linda Holmes, Terry Link, Naomi Jakobsson, Lou Lang, Susan Garrett, and Bob Pritchard.
