In response to the news that Broadway Bank may have to raise $76 million in capital to satisfy federal regulators, U.S. Senate candidates David Hoffman and Cheryle Jackson continued their criticism of Alexi Giannoulias. His family owns the bank and, until four years ago, he worked there.
Appearing on Fox Chicago Sunday over the weekend, Jackson asserted that Giannoulias put "personal financial interests ahead of public interests." Crain's reported the Giannoulias campaign's response that "Broadway is no different than hundreds of community banks nationwide that are in trouble because of the real estate crisis."
Full Disclosure: The SEIU Illinois State Council, which sponsors this website, has endorsed Alexi Giannoulias in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
