Dillard: "Let's Get All The Votes In" (UPDATED)

Those who thought State Sen. Kirk Dillard might concede in the GOP gubernatorial primary race this afternoon guessed wrong. In an interview on WGN this morning, Dillard said the state needs to count between 5,000 to 10,000 absentee and provisional ballots before the race can be called. Asked how long the process might take, he told the anchors that "it will be a while." Dillard currently trails Sen. Bill Brady by about 400 votes.

UPDATE (1:20 p.m.): At a press conference this afternoon, Dillard made it clear that he won't concede until the final vote total is in. And it could be a matter of weeks before that occurs. Currently, 5,000 provisional ballots and another 6,000 absentee ballots are hanging out there. Election authorities expect to have them tallied by February 15. "All of the ballots have not been counted," Dillard said. "The election is not over."
