A spokesman for House Speaker and Illinois Democratic Party Chairman Michael Madigan says that, during a meeting on Friday, Madigan told Scott Lee Cohen in a “very direct and very frank" way to drop out of the race for lieutenant governor.

Meanwhile, Sen. Dick Durbin reportedly criticized Madigan's vetting of the Democratic lieutenant governor candidates today.
