CTA riders have consistently faced the threats of a transit "doomsday." This morning, however, rush hour commuters will feel the full impact of the first major service cut in years. With the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois unwilling to contribute any more funds to close the $95 million budget gap, CTA officials and leaders of the bus and rail unions must forge a successful negotiation on their own.
