The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and a union representing some of the agency's employees have reached a tentative agreement that will keep 38 maintenance workers on the job in exchange for concessions. It's unclear, however, if the agreement means other transit unions are ready to cut a deal that would reverse the service cuts that took affect this week. Meanwhile, suburban riders are sharing the pain with Chicago commuters. On Monday, the Pace bus system eliminated 15 routes in the suburbs and reduced service on nine routes in an effort to shore up a $6.5 million shortfall.
