At a public hearing last night, Dr. Bechara Choucair -- Chicago's new health department commissioner -- reassured worried patients that none of Chicago’s 12 mental health clinics will close in 2010. Choucair is currently reviewing staffing requirements at certain facilities and working to fix billing issues that resulting in large state funding cuts last year, adding that the city (and the state) still has a "deeply broken mental health system."
