State insurance regulators are reporting that some of Illinois' largest health insurance companies have pushed through hefty rate increases on individual policies in recent months. Among them is Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois, which hiked rates on one of its HMO plans by 20 percent. UnitedHealthcare of Illinois also raised rates on similar plans by 13 percent. Illinois Insurance Director Michael McRaith says that his agency will post, for the first time, information about rate increases on its website Thursday.
