Scores of professors and graduate students protested at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign yesterday against Illinois officials who have failed to come up with a plan to cover the $487 million in delayed payments owed to the campus by the state. The demonstration was part of a national day of protest against state cutbacks on higher education.
