While he never mentioned Bill Brady's name during an interview with Chicago Public Radio's Eight-Forty Eight this morning, former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar still managed to get in a dig at the GOP gubernatorial nominee. Specifically, Edgar criticized the idea of a 10 percent across-the-board cut to state government, which Brady has proposed. "I don't agree with across-the-board. I think that's a naive approach," Edgar said. "Because there are some programs that are more essential than others."
Edgar also expressed his disappointment that Kirk Dillard, his former chief-of-staff, was edged out by Brady in the GOP primary."I was hoping that Kirk would be the nominee," Edgar said. "I'm at the University of Illinois and I think I'll take a professorial role in this campaign and just sit on the sideline."
