On Thursday, Gov. Pat Quinn unveiled a six-year road construction plan that would create an estimated 167,000 jobs and bring in $12 billion of contracted work. Funded by a combination of bonds and money from federal, state and local governments, more than 40 percent of the projects are designed to maintain existing roads. About $2.5 billion in new projects will get under way during FY 2011.
