While he remains "disappointed" in the General Assembly for "avoiding doing what they should do," Gov. Pat Quinn told reporters today that he will not veto a state budget plan (HB 859) that forces the governor's office to make deep cuts and produces no revenue to pay off the state's backlog of bills to schools and service providers. The suggestion came from State Rep. Jack Franks (D - Marengo), who voted against the spending plan.

I agree with Quinn's decision. On a side note, I have a son living in Illinois and am very thankful to Progress Illinois for helping me keep up with what's happening in my son's city.
