The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled yesterday in favor of labor lawyer Tom Geoghegan who sued the state last year, arguing that the U.S. Constitution requires Illinois to hold a special election for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Roland Burris. If the decision holds, there could be two elections for the U.S. Senate on November 2: one for a temporary eight-week period and another for the next term.
