Gov. Pat Quinn signed a bill this weekend that will make it easier for schools and low-income consumers to get locally-grown food. The new law will make it easier for farmers market vendors to accept LINK cards. The bill also calls for the creation of a database that will help schools connect with nearby farms as a way to promote the purchase of fresh, locally-grown foods for school lunchrooms.
