The U.S. House is expected to vote on a $26.1 billion state aid package tomorrow. Liberals in the lower chamber have promised to try to restore emergency food stamp funding that the Senate cut in order to make the bill deficit-neutral. Last month, food stamp usage was at an all-time high in Illinois.
UPDATE (2:45 p.m.): U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, who is the Illinois Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, has announced that he is tentatively inclined to vote in favor of the bill on Tuesday.
