A report released by the inspector general of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation found no evidence that politics played any role in the seizure of Broadway Bank, formally owned and operated by the family of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias. The probe came at the request of U.S. House Oversight Committeeman Darrell Issa (R-CA), who has made a habit of pursuing thin political scandals that could prove politically problematic for the Obama administration.
