The Chicago branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has filed a discrimination suit against the Illinois State Police for allegedly dismissing an unpaid Muslim chaplain, the first ever appointed in Illinois. The appointment was criticized by the Washington-based Investigative Project on Terrorism because it claimed the clergyman was a "radical fundraiser," a charge CAIR flatly denies.
