According to a new survey of likely voters from Public Policy Polling (PPP), Gov. Pat Quinn is still trailing State Sen. Bill Brady in the race for the governor's mansion, although the gap is closing. Independent candidate Scott Lee Cohen, who was not included in PPP's last poll, garnered 6 percent. Below are the toplines (PDF), with the results of their previous surveys in parentheses:
Bill Brady (R): 42% (39%, 34%)
Pat Quinn (D): 35% (30%, 33%)
Scott Lee Cohen (I): 6%
Rich Whitney (G): 4% (11%, 9%)
Lex Green (L): 2%
In the first major poll we've seen on the Treasurer and Comptroller races, PPP finds that the GOP nominees have an edge over their Democratic opponents. Judy Baar Topinka is leading State Rep. David Miller convincingly for the Comptroller's seat:
Judy Baar Topinka (R): 52%
David Miller (D): 32%
Republican Treasurer candidate State Sen. Dan Rutherford is also outdistancing Democrat Robin Kelly, although by a slimmer margin:
Dan Rutherford (R): 42%
Robin Kelly (D): 34%
