Attorney General Lisa Madigan has joined her counterparts from 48 other states to probe whether or not foreclosures were properly carried out. In Illinois, Madigan said that banks' use of "robo-signers" during the foreclosure process could have resulted in errors that violated the state's Consumer Fraud Act. "What we are attempting to do is globally determine if the process being followed is legal and accurate and proper," she told WBEZ. "And if it’s not, the process is going to have to change."
