The Chicago Sun-Times has declared GOP candidate Mark Kirk the winner of the U.S. Senate general election race. The paper has not called the special election as of yet.

UPDATE (11:53 p.m.): Led by strong numbers downstate, Kirk has outdistanced his rival by roughly 80,000 voters. Here's a portion of Gianoulias' concession speech, courtesy of NBC:
