The Chicago City Council's Finance Committee voted in support of a state measure that would allow residents in specific city neighborhoods to vote for higher local property taxes in order to fund mental health services. Two years ago, a non-binding resolution calling for higher taxes to support the North River Mental Health Clinic easily passed in Northwest Side precincts. The referendum will face a full council vote Wednesday.
