Limitations in the way the honest services law is enforced have attorneys representing Tony Rezko asking for a new trial. They are blaming the government for the long delay between their request and his 2008 conviction. Rezko has been in prison for two years after agreeing to a delayed sentencing, which he agreed to with the hope that testifying against former Gov. Rod Blagojevich would benefit him.
