Congressman Danny Davis will
meet with fellow Chicago mayoral candidate Carol Moseley Braun today at the request of African-American ministers to see if one of the two may be willing to drop out of the race in order to find a single consensus black candidate. Rev. Jesse Jackson is believed to be angling for the two to meet. Davis and Moseley Braun previously met with State Sen. James Meeks to talk about the campaign, which resulted in Meeks
dropping out of the contest.
Moseley Braun has also been in the news today for a growing feud with
Chicago Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg. In Monday's
column, Steinberg mocked Moseley Braun's campaign. Today, she fired back
calling for Steinberg to be fired an labeling him "a verified drunk and a wife beater."
