In an email to supporters this morning, State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias highlighted his term in office, touted some of his greatest accomplishments, and thanked his backers:

We remained focused on innovative initiatives and policies designed to spur economic growth, curb ethical abuses, safely invest taxpayers' money, help parents send their kids to college, and promote the financial well-being of Illinois residents. Because of the energy, passion, and hard work of this administration, I feel that we have had the most successful term in this office's history. We proved that the State Treasurer's office can have a tangible, real impact on people's everyday lives in Illinois.

Not only have we outperformed our investment benchmarks every single month I've been in office, but we've also added programs that promote financial literacy, encourage economic development, focus on clean energy alternatives, attack corruption in Springfield, examine the state's pension woes, and create and save jobs right here in Illinois.

While my outstanding staff deserves almost all of the credit, it was really your support of my efforts that was key to our success. For that, I can't thank you enough. Most of you have been with me from the very beginning of my term and your ideas, your thoughts, and your encouragement have been a huge part of this administration's success.
