Cook County commissioners will consider a new ordinance banning the practice of hiring family members or friends. The ordinance, sponsored by Commissioner Earlean Collins, would add language to the ethics code prohibiting the practice. Cook County Assessor Joseph Berrios was criticized shortly after winning election for hiring his son and sister.
