Lura Lynn Ryan, the wife of former Gov. George Ryan, was released from a hospital where she was in intensive care. Attorneys for the former governor asked for his release from a federal prison where he is serving a 6 1/2-year sentence for corruption to be with his ailing wife. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons granted Ryan a two-hour visit to the hospital in Kankakee.
