Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart unveiled what he called "appalling" conditions at a cemetery in Homewood, where burials were found with eight caskets piled on top of each other. At a Thursday press conference, Dart described caskets with as many as 26 babies in them and others that had parts of bodies of babies and animals sharing the same casket. The cemetery, Homewood Memorial Gardens, is the only cemetery contracted with the county to bury indigent people.
