By a vote of 91-9 the U.S. Senate approved a two-week spending bill, avoiding a government shutdown, at least for the time being. The bill, which passed the House Tuesday, cuts $4 billion from the federal budget. President Obama is expected to sign the bill, which will give Republicans and Democrats two more weeks to negotiate a budget deal.
