Democratic officials in Chicago will meet to choose a successor for the retiring State Senator Rickey Hendon on Monday. The field of candidates includes Scott Lee Cohen, who ran for Governor as an independent in the November elections, Patricia Van Pelt-Watkins, who ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Chicago, and State Rep. Annazette Collins. Among those choosing will be Ald. Sharon Dixon (24th Ward), Secretary of State Jesse White, and Ald. Robert Fioretti (2nd Ward).
UPDATE (4:35 p.m.): State Representative Annazette Collins has been selected by Democratic party officials to replace Hendon in the state Senate.
